I decided to use a summer vs. winter theme for these cards. My designs are a sun reflected from a snowflake as they have a similar shape, a beach umbrella reflected from an umbrella meant for rain, and a surfer across from a snowboarder. I am leaning towards the sun & snowflake or umbrella ones. What do you think?

For the first two designs I decided to use a large triangle to fill in more space on the page with the examples around the bottom. On the third design, I decided to put triangles behind the main text portion to make the text look more full. I also made the two triangles on the bottom off- centered for a more interesting look. Then on the fourth design I arranged the text so that everything fit exactly into the triangles. Please let me know which design you prefer.
I looked through a few different typefaces and I researched Gil Sans and Trajan, but I ultimately decided to work with the typeface “Avant Garde''. This typeface was designed by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase in 1968. The purpose of this typeface was to use it for headlines and short texts as it has a very simple look for regular upper and lower case texts. In this font, certain letters with straight edges are tilted in caps (AV), specific letters overlap when they are next to each other (GA, KA, PR) other letters add or take away strokes when they are next to each other (TH), and some letters change size (Co, LL).
Avant Garde was the first typeface invented by the company ITC when the company first opened. The origin of this typeface was developed only for uppercase letters. It then began being used in a multitude of different art publications. The font is often used to convey a 70’s look as that was just around when it was created. For the first design I tried moving the words to stack directly on top of each other for a more "commercial look" (not too wide), I also removed the mouse from the original design. In the second design, I embedded 'creativity' into the C and 'everywhere' into the E for a more subtle look. I also initially tried to put 'art' inside the A but it looked like "create everywhere art" so I changed up my strap line a bit. Number 3 is the original design just with color. Lastly number 4 is similar to number 1 but the words are just all spread out but in a different font to not blend into the main logo. The font I used for the main logo is called squared display. Should I keep the mouse in the design? Also should I keep the off-centered version or the more rectangular version? Please let me know your thoughts!
In the first slide, or the original design, I chose to use a very square font to represent the digital part of computer graphics. I turned the "G" into a key board with a mouse attached where a serif could be. I also made the dot on the "i" a cursor for a mouse. For the second design, I angled the design slightly. On the third slide, I filled in the inverted the keyboard colors. Finally for the fourth design, I inverted the colors on the keyboard and made the "computer" text an outline only to create more variation. Please let me know what you think.
For this project I chose Jin from BTS. I am currently working on his hair, you are looking at the right side of his part now. I decided to use differences in text size to show the size differences in hair sections. Does this communicate well, can you tell what is supposed to be happening?
For the first image, I used a purple gradient around the whole earth to give a 3 dimensional effect. I also played with filling in certain stars to show more variation. For the second design, I applied a pink gradient on the whole shape and used white to outline the land to make those lines pop out more. Finally for the last design, I used earth tones for a more natural look. Which color scheme do you think works the best? Please let me know!
For the five things you don't know about me project, I first started off with creating my list of things you wouldn't know about me. The five facts themselves that I started with are; that I have been dancing since I was two years old, I began learning the guitar last summer, my favorite place to vacation is Vancouver, Canada more specifically, a place called Tofino which is on an island off of Vancouver, I love to listen to music, and I think that outer space is very interesting.
I then decided to sketch a variety of different elements from the list of five things that are important to me to see if it would give me more inspiration to create. From my list, I played with common shapes I saw in my sketches and tried to combine them to create my final symbol. I decided on an earth shape attached to a crescent moon shape which overall forms a music note. My cover page was also heavily inspired by my list of the other five things you don't know about me. I created a backdrop of layered mountains similar to those I find when I vacation to Vancouver in the Winter. I added my name in bold letters in the middle of the page over a background I cut out from an image of the Aurora Borealis which I have always wanted to see. At the bottom of the page, you will find waves inspired by the beaches at Tofino that are layered into five lines to represent a musical staff. My main symbol of the music note is replicated three times on different areas of the staff. |
